The first Google Pixel Fold was mighty important, as it showed us that Samsung had the aspect of the external screen of the Z Fold wrong. It’s too narrow and not comfy for typing. Now it’s time for the Google Pixel Fold 2.
The device has just leaked online in the first pictures and according to insiders, the device may skip the Tensor G3 processor of the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro and go straight to the Tensor G4 from the Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro. Both of those two have already leaked as well, by the way. What we’re seeing here is a purported Pixel Fold 2 prototype, which has leaked from the same source who had the info about the CPU.
The back side is pretty well hidden, but we definitely see that there’s no trace of Visor design. The camera bump has a brand new shape, that’s for sure. The cover screen of the Pixel Fold 2 is also narrower and longer now, compared to the predecessor, which is pretty wide in form factor. Apparently, it was so wide, that it was seen as a landscape by some apps.
The Pixel Fold 2 seems to have rather large bezels for the external screen and curved corners for it. We expect new hinge materials, maybe some titanium and also new frame materials. We’ll learn more come October.
