Sony PlayStation 5 is a More Compact PlayStation 5, Rendered by Concept Creator

Sony PlayStation 5 is just days away from reaching the sweaty palms of the excited owners and some people are cautiously waiting for new versions. Among them there’s designer Concept Creator, who envisioned a PS5 Slim for Letsgodigital. I’m guessing that we’ll also get a PlayStation 5 Pro along the way.

There’s no way around it: the PlayStation 5 is huge, both in landscape and portrait mode. It’s very long/tall and the design has polarized people. Maybe not as much as the angular Xbox Series X. Letsgodigital also created a PS5 Spiderman Edition by the way. The PS5 Pro is expected to drop in 2023 at the earliest, while the PS5 Slim may come sooner. PS VR2 headset may also be announced in 2022. In spite of all those timelines, designer Jermaine Smit, aka Concept Creator has rendered a PlayStation 5 Slim, with an original twist.

The bottom of the console is flat, making it easy to be placed in a TV cabinet. The designer also created a black version of the console, not just the white version of the PS5. The DualSense controller also has a similar, matching color scheme. The “wings” of the PS5 seem to be more flat now and more embedded with the device. They also flow gently over the front and reveal a blue lighting system. The price is going to be lower than the PlayStation 5 and on par with the Xbox Series S probably, or lower.

The optical drive will be lacking, of course and we’re curious about the cuts made to the internal hardware. We may see less RAM, the same storage and a lesser CPU. Less thickness and a new cooling solution in the mix. Probably no love for 8K and 4K 120 FPS graphics here.

The finish is shown as matte, instead of a combined matte/glossy finish of the PS5. The system is also lighter and quieter.
