Sony Xperia 1 VII Appears in Live Photos, Hints at Familiar Design

Sony’s next flagship is inching closer to launch. After unveiling the Xperia 1 VI last May, it looks like the Xperia 1 VII is just around the corner. The upcoming device has now surfaced through Taiwan’s NCC certification, complete with a set of live images that give us our clearest look yet.

As expected, Sony isn’t shaking things up too much in the design department. The Xperia 1 VII retains the brand’s signature tall-and-slim aesthetic, closely resembling its predecessor—just as previously leaked CAD renders suggested. That continuity won’t come as a shock to anyone familiar with Sony’s recent design philosophy.

What is new, though, are the color options. According to the NCC listing, the Xperia 1 VII will launch in at least three finishes: black, purple (returning for the first time since the Xperia 1 IV), and what appears to be a deep green—though the listing’s translation calls it “navy green,” which might not be the final marketing term.

Camera-wise, earlier leaks point to all three rear sensors being upgraded to Sony’s Exmor T tech. However, the specs remain familiar: a 52MP (48MP effective) main sensor, alongside 12MP ultrawide and 12MP telephoto lenses—mirroring the Xperia 1 VI’s setup.

Under the hood, details are still under wraps, but we’re expecting Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 (likely the “Elite Edition”) to power the device.

There’s no official launch date just yet, but with certifications rolling in and leaks heating up, a reveal could be just weeks away. Stay tuned.
