Xiaomi’s Long-Awaited Redmi Pad 2 Surfaces

Xiaomi is finally updating its budget tablet lineup after nearly three years, and if recent leaks are anything to go by, the Redmi Pad 2 could be just around the corner. A fresh set of high-res renders and spec leaks—courtesy of YTechB—give us a solid look at what to expect from this overdue sequel to the original Redmi Pad launched back in 2022.

Visually, the Redmi Pad 2 keeps things familiar with a few subtle design tweaks. The chassis sticks to flat edges and rounded corners, and while the front still carries chunky bezels (a staple of budget slates), the rear has been updated with a pill-shaped camera island. You’ll find the power button nestled in the top-right corner and the volume rocker along the right edge—nothing radical, but it keeps the utility intact.

Under the hood, things get a modest but welcome boost. The tablet is expected to feature an 11-inch LCD panel pushing a 2.5K resolution (1600 x 2500) at a 90Hz refresh rate—solid numbers for a budget tablet and enough to make scrolling feel noticeably smoother compared to most entry-level offerings.

Driving the Redmi Pad 2 will be MediaTek’s Helio G100 Ultra chip, paired with Xiaomi’s HyperOS 2.1. It’s not aiming for power-user territory, but it should be fine for streaming, light gaming, and day-to-day browsing. Camera-wise, there’s an 8MP rear shooter (f/2.0) and a 5MP front cam for selfies and video calls.

The audio setup seems promising, with a quad-speaker array tuned for Dolby Atmos. And yes, somehow in 2025, the 3.5mm headphone jack lives on—an unexpected but welcome nod to legacy audio lovers.

A 9,000mAh battery is set to keep the lights on, with 18W charging support. It’s not blazing fast, but it’s respectable for the price point.

Speaking of price, the leak pegs the entry-level model (4GB RAM + 128GB storage) at €229, while a more capable configuration with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage will reportedly go for €279. With competition heating up in the affordable Android tablet space, the Redmi Pad 2 looks like it’s ready to earn its spot.
