While everybody is talking about the freshly unveiled Samsung Galaxy Note 10 Lite and Galaxy S10 Lite, we’ve found another gem. It’s the LG G9, which has just leaked in renders, thanks to @OnLeaks and Cashkaro. It’s the first @OnLeaks leak from 2020, so let’s jump on it!

First of all, LG is not the company to do radical design changes, so forget about it. The facade is very similar to the LG G8X one and the bezels are pretty big for 2020 (almost wrote 2019 there). These CAD-based renders show a changed back, which was long overdue. We go from two main cameras to a quad camera setup. The cam is arranged in a horizontal strip, which is what Samsung had been doing till recently, when they went with a rectangle/square.

The fingerprint scanner is now embedded in the screen and speaking of it, the display is pretty flat, considering all the curves we see lately. Sources mention a diagonal between 6.7 inches and 6.9 inches. Weird to see that LG is not jumping on the punch hole selfie camera bandwagon, but they’re probably making their own screen panel, so there’s that. Another middle finger to trends is the inclusion of an audio jack, a dying breed among features on phones.

@OnLeaks mentions the size of 169.4 x 77.6 x 8.8 mm for the handset, going up to 9.4 mm with the camera hump included. We could see an unveiling at MWC 2020, in February. If you ask me this looks like an Xperia sans 21:9 aspect and a bit wider… We definitely need LG to step up its game, otherwise they’ll stay out of top 5 again, maybe even out of top 10 in the smartphone area.
