Apple’s ultra-slim iPhone Air could be getting a serious camera upgrade next year—at least if a new leak out of China is to be believed. The device, allegedly called the iPhone Air 2 (not “iPhone 18 Air,” as some rumors suggest), appears in a new render showing a refined minimalist back with two cameras housed in a pill-shaped module.
The source of the leak, tipster Digital Chat Station, claims that the new setup includes two 48-megapixel sensors, replacing the single-lens configuration of the current Air model. While early speculation hinted at a telephoto option, the more likely scenario is a main + ultrawide combo, bringing it closer to the imaging flexibility of the iPhone 16.
Beyond optics, the Air 2 reportedly features a 6.5-inch 120 Hz OLED display, Face ID with a dedicated 3D sensor, and an 18 MP front camera. The body remains impressively thin—under 6 mm—with a feather-light profile and a titanium frame. Powering it all would be an Apple A20 or A20 Pro chip, tuned for efficiency rather than raw flagship performance.
If this leak holds true, the iPhone Air 2 could serve as Apple’s most elegant middle-ground device: premium design, everyday performance, and a smaller footprint than the Pro line. But elegance doesn’t come cheap—expect prices north of 6,000 lei if it ever hits shelves.
Given Apple’s quiet cycle for the Air lineup, we might not see this model until 2026, but if it looks anything like this leak, it’s a reminder that thin can still mean powerful.
