iPhone 17e drops the notch, moves to Dynamic Island in new leaked renders

The iPhone 17e has surfaced again, this time breaking away from the iPhone 18 series and the rumored iPhone Fold. A fresh set of leaked renders gives us a clearer look at Apple’s upcoming entry-level model – and the big takeaway is that the notch is finally gone.

Expected to launch in early 2026, the 17e abandons the thick notch used on the iPhone 16e and adopts the now-standard Dynamic Island cutout. The renders, published by MyDrivers, show a familiar pill-shaped module at the top of the display, along with a single rear camera. Apple is reportedly preparing three color options for the device: red, white, and a grey/black variant.

Unfortunately, Apple is sticking with a 60 Hz display once again, with a 6.1-inch panel that keeps this model firmly in the budget tier. Under the hood, the phone is expected to run on an Apple A19 chip, likely a downclocked or reduced-GPU-core version aimed at keeping costs in check. Apple is positioning the 17e as an upgrade path for users still holding onto older models like the iPhone 11.

One of the major improvements will be the selfie camera, which is said to jump to a new square-type 18 MP sensor with Center Stage support – the same upgrade arriving across the full iPhone 17 lineup. On the back, Apple is expected to use a familiar 48 MP main camera.

Connectivity is also getting an upgrade: the iPhone 17e reportedly includes Apple’s new in-house C1 modem alongside the N1 wireless chip.
