The clearest images yet of the so-called iPhone Fold Ultra have landed online, and they arrive with an unusual level of detail. While analysts widely expect Apple’s first foldable to debut in fall 2026, designers aren’t waiting. One of the most prolific concept creators on YouTube, 4RMD, has published a fully-fledged render set complete with a device teardown, giving us a speculative but impressively cohesive picture of Apple’s foldable ambitions.
In typical 4RMD fashion, the concept goes far beyond surface-level mockups. The video breaks down camera positioning, hinge engineering, materials, internal hardware and even color options. The designer has produced high-profile concepts in the past, including imagined takes on the iPhone 17 Air, iPhone SE 4, redesigned iPhone 5 models and several Google Pixel prototypes. His portfolio on YouTube has long blurred the line between fan art and near-product-grade industrial design.
A wide, angular foldable inspired by Pixel Fold proportions
The iPhone Fold Ultra adopts a wide, angular form factor more reminiscent of the Google Pixel Fold or OnePlus Open than the taller profiles of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 or Huawei Mate X6. According to the concept, the outer display measures 5.5 inches, while the internal panel stretches to 7.8 inches with no visible crease. The hinge is imagined using Liquidmetal for added durability, paired with a titanium frame. When unfolded, the predicted thickness is just 4.5 mm, and around 9 to 9.5 mm when closed.
Cameras, chipset and battery
The render proposes a dual rear camera system with two 48 MP sensors (main and ultrawide), an 18 MP ultrawide selfie camera and a side-mounted Touch ID sensor. Inside, 4RMD envisions an Apple A20 Pro chip and a 5700 mAh battery rated for a full day of use. Colorways include purple, black and white. Striking as the design may be, the absence of a periscope camera—now common among flagship foldables—raises a natural question about Apple’s strategy for telephoto performance.
Unsurprisingly, the creator even suggests a starting price: 2299 dollars, with higher tiers depending on storage.
