Clicks Communicator Brings Back BlackBerry Hype With a Physical Keyboard

I would have chalked this down under “concept”, but apparently the Clicks Communicator is as real as they come. This retro looking smartphone reminds me of a BlackBerry, thanks to its physical keyboard.

It runs on Android 16, even has 5G and it also feels like a throwback to a less remembered phone, a Facebook Phone. It was called HTC ChaCha about 15 years ago. This brand new device sports an OLED screen with a 4.03 inch diagonal, it uses a 4 nanometer processor and also relies on a 4000 mAh battery, of the Silicon Carbon variety.

It’s made by a company that started off as an iPhone case maker, Clicks and it’s now back with a physical keyboard phone. It has some old school features, which people will love, like a 3.5 mm audio jack, microSD card slot, even a notification LED. Plus a side button, which you can associate shortcuts to.

The device runs a special flavour of Android, with the Niagara Launcher on top. It’s meant as a companion for productivity, not necessarily a daily driver, most like a secondary phone. The price is a bit on the steep side, at 499 dollars, I’ll admit it. At least there’s an early bird discount, keeping it at $399.

You can only get it in the States by the way.
