XDA Developers managed to score the leak of the month, changing everything we knew about the Huawei Mate 20 devices. It would appear that at least one of them is getting the “teardrop notch” treatment, as shown below. Let’s check these new renders out.

For a long while we believed that the Huawei Mate 20 was going to look like the P20 models combined with the Mate 10 Pro. Actually, the Mate 20 inaugurates a teardrop design, inspired by what Oppo has been doing recently. There’s also a very weird square back camera, that integrates the 3 camera sensors and the LED flash. I say “weird”, because I haven’t seen this approach before.

While the discrete notch is definitely a plus, I’m not very sure about the camera, that feels a bit like a LEGO piece. Huawei Mate 20 is rumored to be offering a Kirin 980 CPU, 6.3 inch AKMOLED screen and 4200 mAh battery. Mate 20 Pro will go even to 6.9 inches in diagonal and it’s not yet clear if both devices have triple cameras or not. An announcement should happen in October, November at the latest and the glass back is pretty much a given.

I can’t quite figure out where the earpiece went, of it’s above the front camera notch or not… Also I find it weird that the audio jack is back, after being gone from the Mate 10 Pro. Things can still change, since October is a long way away from us.
