I’ll always quote reputed leakster @OnLeaks as the man who first posted the square camera iPhone leak. Now he’s back with a premiere of the same caliber, this time the OnePlus 8. Let’s check it out.

This series of renders for the 2020 OnePlus flagship comes courtesy of @OnLeaks, together with CashKaro.com. I wouldn’t say I’m very surprised by this design, since it’s rather predictable. Also, this being a OnePlus 8, it leaves room for a crazier looking OnePlus 8 Plus.

Anyway, we get here the usual combo of glass and metal, but this time there’s a punch hole selfie camera upfront. The back only hosts a triple camera, but arranged in a vertical, not horizontal line. Unlike the OnePlus 7, this device has a screen that’s curved on the sides, perhaps even more curved than the OnePlus 7 Pro. The diagonal is said to be 6.5 inches and the waistline is 8.1 mm, or 9.3 mm including the back camera bump.

I see that the bottom speaker is now more discrete, a mere slit, not a grille this time around. Wireless charging is part of the package and at this rate IP68 certification may be, too. I’m not saying this device looks bad, but it looks predictable and the fact that OnePlus explored 3 selfie camera integrations in a year is troubling.

We’ve got the notch, pop up camera and now the punch hole. It’s as if they’re waiting for Samsung to make them a display with camera integrated below glass… As a whole, this would fit a OnePlus 8, leaving us enough room to wonder and speculate about the OnePlus 8 Plus.
