OnePlus Watch 3 with Rotating Crown Shines in New Renders

OnePlus is gearing up to make waves in the smartwatch market once again with its next wearable, the OnePlus Watch 3, set to launch in early 2025. Thanks to a leak shared by SmartPrix, we now have a sneak peek at the design and features of the upcoming device. Spoiler: it’s bringing some long-awaited upgrades.

A Crown That Finally Does Something

The most eye-catching change? A functional rotating crown. Unlike its predecessor, where the crown was little more than a design flourish, the OnePlus Watch 3’s crown promises actual utility, bringing a smoother, more tactile way to navigate menus.

Slimmer Bezels, Familiar Aesthetic

The leaked renders, based on a prototype, suggest smaller bezels and a refined look, though the overall design language remains consistent with the previous model. The Watch 3 will reportedly come in two color options, balancing subtlety with style.

Hardware and Features That Pack a Punch

Under the hood, the OnePlus Watch 3 is shaping up to be a powerhouse. It’s rumored to feature the Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 processor, paired with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of onboard storage. Battery life is a priority too, with reports pointing to a battery capacity of at least 500 mAh, and possibly as high as 648 mAh, according to an FCC certification for the model OPWW234.

For health enthusiasts, there’s more good news: the Watch 3 will likely include ECG support and an upgraded heart rate sensor. However, ECG functionality might roll out selectively based on regional regulations. Connectivity gets a boost with LTE support, and it will run Wear OS 5, complemented by a real-time operating system (RTOS) to enhance battery performance.

When Can We Expect It?

While the OnePlus Watch 3 is expected to launch in the first quarter of 2025, it’s unclear whether it will debut alongside the OnePlus 13 series on January 7. Either way, the new smartwatch looks poised to offer a compelling mix of style and substance, marking a significant step forward for OnePlus in the wearables market.

Stay tuned for more updates as we get closer to the official reveal.
