In an unexpected twist the upcoming Oppo Reno 8 has leaked, even though over the past week Europe barely got the Reno 7 launch. Turns out that the Reno 8 is going to be a OnePlus 10 Pro reincarnation, or the cancelled OnePlus 10.
As you know, OnePlus and Oppo have been fusing into one entity over the past year or so, so this makes sense. Oppo got the Hasselblad partnership that OnePlus already had and parts of OxygenOS are looking more and more like ColorOS. Actually in China the OnePlus devices are selling with colorOS. The Oppo Reno 7 was the dead ringer of the OnePlus Nord N20 last year, so it’s no surprise the Reno 8 is a canned OnePlus 10.
It’s all in the square camera module, pretty similar to the 10 Pro one, down to the LED ring flash. Digital Chat Station, a reliable Weibo leakster shared some specs for the device, like a smaller 6.55 inch screen, compared to the 6.7 inch inch of the OnePlus flagship. There’s no Hasselblad branding here that we can see and the main camera supposedly integrates a 50 megapixel main shooter, but the other two cameras are mysterious.
They could be an ultrawide unit and a Macro or Bokeh one. Telephoto seems like too much of a stretch nowadays. I expect a MediaTek CPU inside, maybe the Dimensity 8100 of the recently unveiled realme GT Neo 3. ColorOS 12.1 is definitely here. I feel that this product would dillute the OnePlus identity even more.
