Samsung Galaxy Z Flip7 Leak Suggests a Bigger Cover Display and a More Modern Look

Samsung is making some notable design changes with the upcoming Galaxy Z Flip7, according to new leaks from OnLeaks. While earlier reports suggested a folder-style cover display, Samsung appears to be going in a different direction—one that brings it more in line with competitors.

A Larger Cover Display That Takes Over the Upper Half

The biggest design change? Samsung is ditching the folder-style cover display and opting for a full-width panel that integrates both rear cameras inside the display area. This design shift mirrors what other brands have already introduced, creating a more seamless, modern aesthetic for the Flip7.

Instead of the previously rumored 3.6-inch cover screen, the new display will reportedly be closer to 4 inches, maximizing the available space on the top half of the device. This change makes the external display far more usable, allowing for better app interactions, notifications, and even camera previews without opening the phone.

Refined Design, Same Core Foldable Experience

Beyond the expanded cover display, the rest of the Flip7’s design remains largely unchanged. Leaked dimensions suggest the device will measure 166.6 x 75.2 x 6.9 mm (thickening to 9.1mm at the camera bump). Inside, it’s rumored to feature:

  • 6.8-inch inner foldable display
  • 50MP main camera + 12MP ultrawide sensor
  • 12GB RAM
  • 256GB or 512GB storage options

In terms of performance, the Flip7 is expected to be powered by either Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite or Samsung’s Exynos 2500, depending on the region.

A Necessary Evolution for the Flip Series

With other foldable manufacturers pushing full-width cover screens, Samsung risked falling behind in the design race. The new Flip7 update ensures the device looks and feels like a next-gen foldable, rather than a small iteration on its predecessor.

While the core form factor remains unchanged, this redesigned cover display could be a game-changer for usability—offering a more functional, immersive outer screen experience.

We’ll have to wait for Samsung’s official unveiling later this year, but for now, these leaks suggest that the Flip7 is shaping up to be a much-needed refinement of Samsung’s flip phone lineup.
