We’ve seen the Sony PlayStation 5 getting rendered by Letsgodigital and their partners once the DualSense controller was announced and now the gaming device is back, this time with a black version. Once again graphic designer Snoreyn (Giuseppe Spinelli) is behind the project, shown below.

On paper, the Sony PS5 is still on track for a launch in late 2020, perhaps in the holiday season. The pandemic may delay it though. The design of the black PS5 you see here is a rather classic one, a boxy rectangular format that Sony has been adopting for years. It feels a bit like an icecream sandwich that’s been enlarged. We also have a matching black controller, the DualSense looking much better in this hue, compared to the black and white one that Sony unveiled.

The pattern of the shiny blue light bar is adopted on both the controller and the console. Upfront, next to the Sony logo you can find the Blu-ray drive and two USB ports for controllers, while the back also has two USB ports, plus LAN, HDMI, Power port, SPDIF and AUX. Giuseppe has also imagined the cooling system and his version of the PS5 gets cold air supplied from the top. There are two rows of ventilation holes on the sides used to remove warm air as well.

When the console is placed on small supporting legs, the air can also be let out through the bottom ventilation holes. The console was also made more silent than the noisy PS4 Pro, as the fans have been well hidden and covered. Those vertical holes do make the device look a bit more old school, like a VCR and more “rugged”, so to say. In the end, the second render above reveals there are actually two blue LED areas on the console, symmetrical to the controller ones.

Any takers?
