We’re in March and it’s officially time to start thinking about a new Apple event. It may or may not bring us a new iPad, Apple Watch, or even Air Tags. In the meantime the designers’ wheels are spinning and Svetapple already rendered the iPad Mini 6 in multiple pictures, inspired by leaks.
The core idea here: iPad Mini 6 is a smaller iPad Air 4, the one launched in Fall 2020. This means there should be a Power button with Touch ID at the top, a metal body and smaller and flat bezels. The diagonal has increased from 7.9 inches to 8.4 inches or even 8.9 inches according to some sources. Gone is the power button and we may just see the Lightning port replaced by an USB-C port. The screen is said to offer 500 nits of brightness, TrueTone functionality and P3 color spectrum support.
Specs include a 7 MP FaceTime camera and a 12 MP main camera at the back, a singular one. However, iPad Mini 6 can do Smart HDR 3 and Portrait and we also get an Apple A14 Bionic CPU inside. There should be 4 GB of RAM here, 64 GB, 128 GB or 256 GB of storage and LTE connectivity. The screen will have a 2360 x 1640 pixel resolution and Apple Pencil 2 will be supported here. We’re certainly due a refresh for the iPad Mini, after almost a decade of existence with the same old design repeated again and again.
The price point is going to be the key here and anything below $400 sounds like a hit to me.
