Motorola Showcases Phone That Wraps Around Wrist (Concept)

During the Lenovo Tech World 2023 event, Motorola had a pretty major unveiling to perform. They were there to showcase a flexible smartphone, that’s able to wrap around the wrist. More details and pics are available below.

We’ve covered a similar concept in the early days of our website, the Nokia Morph, which used to wrap around the wrist. This time Moto proposes an “adaptive display”, available in prototype phase, that packs a 6.9 inch OLED screen with Full HD+ resolution. It offers the ability to fold, but also wrap, curl and even stand.

When curled up, the software is able to adjust seamless, turning it into a compact 4.6 inch machine. Lenovo already tried something similar back in 2016 with the CPlus concept, with a 4.6 inch screen as well, but thicker bezels. The prototype shown here has some interesting features. When you use it as a stand, it can capture your clothes and create a matching wallpaper with the aid of AI.

It can also bend its top half upwards, which makes it perfect for video calls and vertical browsing. I was honestly more fascinated by the RIZR rollable phone from MWC 2023 and I’d like to see more of that.
