Nokia 9.3 5G Would Probably be Better Than What HMD Churns Out in the Fall

Let’s face it HMD was off to a pretty good start, but once the Nokia 9 Pureview came out they quickly went to rock bottom. Nokia 6.2 and 7.2 were crap, I tested both, with horrific battery life and poor cameras, plus big prices. Nokia 9 Pureview took forever to take pictures, but some people still hang on tight to the memory of the good old Nokia 808 Pureview or the Lumia 1020. Well, the latter kind of got resurrected by designer Concept Creator.

After creating dozens of Android phones and iPhones he now turns his attention towards Nokia. This fall should bring us a Nokia 9.3 Pureview, but I’m less than enthusiastic about it. It could end up a Snapdragon 765G phone that’s forgettable at best. Nokia 9.3 Pureview 5G shown here tries something different. Jermaine Smit aka Concept Creator sees it as a reincarnation of the Lumia 1020 and also pushing the envelope.

On the one hand we have a camera under the screen, selfie camera of course. That’s something that Oppo has been trying to crack and Samsung has been working on. The problem is the weird way lights reflects from the screen compared to a camera lens. Nokia 9.3 Pureview has a 32 MP selfie camera, that camouflages itself in the screen when not in use. The back camera is an “Oreo” like we’ve seen on the OnePlus 7T and Huawei Mate 30 Pro, plus Lumia 1020 back in the day.

Zeiss is still in the mix and the designer also proposes an alternative: a pop up camera for the selfie. The screen is a 120 Hz OLED with a Quad HD+ resolution, aligned with modern trends and flagships. The diagonal of 6.3 inches can actually be considered small nowadays. Inside there’s a Snapdragon 865 CPU, with at least 6 GB of RAM to accompany it, plus 128 GB of storage. A Penta camera also appears here, but not like the Nokia 9 Pureview one.

The Nokia 9.3 now gets a 108 megapixel main sensor, a 64 MP telephoto camera and an ultrawide shooter, plus Macro lens. The battery should be big, either 4500 mAh or even 5000 mAh, making the device quite beefy. Stock Android 10 should here, plus 5G, while the price may be problematic. You’d be tempted to hope for $800, but it’s unrealistic. The 3D graphics done by Concept Creator are amazing, particularly the 3D video ones, but I find the cross shaped camera sensors a bit bothersome. Designers try to avoid religious imagery usually.
