OnePlus Nord showed us that OnePlus can also make midrange phones with appeal, not just flagships. It also took the price of a midrange to a new notch, which people didn’t exactly dig. Now we’re in 2021, with a OnePlus Nord CE 5G out and also a N200 available in USA. However, there’s also a OnePlus Nord 2 brewing, according to multiple leaks and now we also have a set of renders.
The latest OnePlus Nord 2 leak comes courtesy of 91Mobiles and @OnLeaks. The design is very similar to the OnePlus 9 and it’s not a singular occurrence, since the OnePlus Nord N200 is also similar to the OP9. The rectangular triple camera setup is the biggest resemblance to the core flagship. There are some changes though, like the placement of the third camera and the LED flash module. The front of the handset integrates a punch hole selfie camera in the upper left corner.
We also expect an in display fingerprint scanner. Previously revealed specs mentioned that the OnePlus Nord 2 could make the leap towards a MediaTek chip, a hardcore one like the Dimensity 1200. It should be on par with the performance of the Snapdragon 865 or 870. Leaked benchmarks also mention 8 GB of RAM. I should probably have you know that these are CAD renders following closely a prototype which the source apparently learned about or even saw. The device’s debut should happen before the end of September, but others claim it could drop in July.
It striple back camera could include a 50 MP main shooter, an 8 MP ultrawide cam and 2 MP Bokeh or Macro cam. A 32 MP selfie cam pops up here as well, hopefully better than the ones from the Galaxy A models. A 4500 mAh battery also makes the cut. The OnePlus Nord 2 appears in green, but there are also other options of colors. An USB-C port, SIM tray and speaker grille are at the bottom. It measures 8.1 mm in thickness apparently and it should use a 6.43 inch AMOLED panel with 90 Hz refresh rate.
I find the 50 MP back camera to the sole selling point here.
