Back when Samsung was happy with polycarbonate bodies that weren’t very inspired, Sony was dabbling into glass cases. Now it’s Samsung that’s messing around with glass and Sony’s approach has become less impressive and basically “more of the same”. Designer Jenner Gray takes us back to the Sony Ericsson brand, through the excellent Xperia Arcage concept.
Remember the Xperia Arc phone? It was a beauty and now it’s back, reincarnated as the Sony Ericsson Xperia Arcage, that borrows from both that model and the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge. It features the general format of the Xperia Arc, with its gentle curve, that seems to “push” the top and bottom edges and slims the model as much as possible at its center.
Then the S7 Edge influence comes in, courtesy of curved screen edges. This match made in heaven also brings a back side that feels more Sony and less Samsung and we also get a 5.5 inch Super AMOLED screen in the mix. PS4 remote play and a 20.7 megapixel back camera with surprisingly discrete flash and lens are included. And guess what? This Xperia concept phone is also waterproof..
I’m throwing money at the screen like crazy!
