Another week, another set of renders has arrived, this time for Sony’s upcoming flagship, the Xperia 1 V. The renders show a familiar design with some slight tweaks. It’s likely we’ll see this product at MWC 2023, in Barcelona, but let’s first see what’s fresh here.
The renders are full res and accompanied by a video and they come from @OnLeaks and greensmartphones. Honestly not much has changed from the previous model, if we’re being completely honest. There’s still a rectangular and narrow format, plus the front camera is integrated into the top lip of the facade, not the screen, like every other company is doing.
Sony is also tweaking the camera island on the Xperia 1 V, as the ToF camera and RGB IR sensors are gone. Apparently, the module is also more protruding now and also more elongated. The 3 sensors left here seem bigger than the Xperia 1 IV ones. We also get some measurements from the source: 161.0 x 69.3 x 8.5 mm, which we can compare to the 165 x 71 x 8.2 mm of the Xperia 1 IV.
The device will retain the 6.5 inch flat screen, with the same famous 21:9 aspect ratio. We could also get slimmer bezels on the newcomer. Other rumored specs include a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, a main 12 MP cam, a 12 MP periscope telephoto camera with at least 3X optical zoom and 16 GB of RAM. There’s also a 48 MP ultrawide camera and a 12 MP selfie shooter.
