Sony Xperia 6 5G (2020) is the latest concept we’ve covering today and it seems to borrow a lot from the other big flagships incoming. It takes elements from the Galaxy S11, but it also stays true to the Xperia identity, by providing a rectangular design. We have more info below.

Of course, all credits go to Silent Tech Review, the makers of the concept. Sony has launched polarizing devices this year, like the Xperia 1 and Xperia 5. People either hate them or love them, but most people are just happy with making remote control memes related to them. Xperia 6 5G (2020) seems to be a tad different. It’s back to the rectangular, wide and rather bulky format that the Xperias had for years.

It also moves the camera back on the left side from the center of the predecessors. Upfront we find a very narrow bezel screen, with curved edges and a center punch hole camera, in the vein of Galaxy S11 and Note 10. That one is a 20 MP selfie camera. We also get a triple back camera, that includes a 108 megapixel sensor, a 10x optical zoom telephoto cam and a ultra wide shooter. Two more sensors are present, probably a ToF and some other laser/ RGB unit.

In spite of current trends of increasing screen sizes to crazy diagonals, the Sony Xperia 6 5G (2020) sticks with a 6.4 inch OLED screen with a 3040 x 1440 pixel resolution. The handset has a body that’s IP68 certified and it’s both dust and water resistant, up to 1.5 meters for 30 minutes. We also get a Snapdragon 865 processor inside, 6, 8 or 12 GB of RAM and from 64 GB to 1 TB of storage. I’d say the design feels basic, not very different from the older Xperias and it won’t polarize people as much as the Xperia 1 and Xperia 5 have. Solid specs, but I’d see Sony using its own 64 MP sensor rather than Samsung’s 108 MP cam.
Also, considering the name, this is very likely Sony’s first 5G phone.
