Xiaomi ended 2021 with a Xiaomi 12 unveiling, including the 12X and 12 Pro models. Now we’re waiting for the Xiaomi 12 Ultra to come up and today we learned it may come in February and we also get to see the Xiaomi 12 Ultra appear as metal dummy units. They actually emphasize the lack of a secondary screen at the back and the presence of a giant camera module.
It feels a bit like a Lumia 1020 and we also get a thick profile here and a beefy machine. The predecessor was no petite handset, but this time may overdo it… I don’t know if it will push it to 240 grams like the iPhone 13 Pro Max, but I’d be careful if I were Xiaomi to not make it too top heavy like the Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra. Back to the dummy, we also have a video of it below.
Apparently it has a pretty thick chin and also curved screen sides. Xiaomi 12 Ultra is expected to adopt a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 CPU, at least 12 GB of RAM, a 50 MP main camera with a Samsung GN5 sensor, as well as one 48 MP shooter and two other 50 MP cameras. One of them is probably an ultrawide cam and the other two are telephoto cameras, with 3-5X optical zoom and 10X optical zoom.
Leica optics has been rumored multiple times to appear here. I also expect a large diagonal, of around 6.8 to 6.9 inches and a LTPO panel with refresh rate up to 120 Hz. Zoom may well get up to 120X, 150X, perhaps even 200X. I struggle to see a selling point just yet…
