Xiaomi 17 Ultra Looks Bold in New Renders, With Large Camera Bump

If there’s one detail that immediately jumps out in these new Xiaomi 17 Ultra renders, it’s the buttons. They’re round. Properly round. In an era where most smartphone buttons have settled into safe, pill-shaped anonymity, Xiaomi (or at least whoever made these renders) seems oddly committed to making them a visual statement.

That said, a big caveat right from the start: these aren’t official leaks. They appear to be fan-made renders, so take everything with a healthy dose of skepticism. Still, they line up neatly with what we expect from Xiaomi’s Ultra strategy. The phone is rumored to launch in China by the end of the month, with a global debut likely around MWC 2026.

The camera module is exactly as unapologetic as you’d expect. It’s large, circular, and aggressively protruding, very much in the same spirit as the Xiaomi 15 Ultra. If it feels familiar, that’s because Xiaomi once again seems to be borrowing a page from Apple’s playbook. After adopting the “Pro Max” naming for the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max, the company now appears ready to embrace Apple’s orange finish as well, echoing the rumored colorway of the iPhone 17 Pro.

Looking closer at the camera layout, the design is classic Ultra. Two smaller lenses sit at the bottom of the circular module, while the top half houses the periscope telephoto camera and the main sensor. There are dual LED flashes near the top, with the Leica branding prominently placed in the center, just in case anyone forgets where Xiaomi’s photographic ambitions come from. Recent chatter also suggests Xiaomi could launch a special Leica Leitz Phone edition of the 17 Ultra alongside the standard model, continuing that long-running partnership.

Specs-wise, expectations are already sky-high. Based on the Xiaomi 15 Ultra, the 17 Ultra should feature at least a 6.73-inch display, paired with a battery of no less than 6,000 mAh—and possibly closer to 7,000 mAh if Xiaomi really wants to flex. Extra rear sensors are also likely, including a color spectrum sensor and a laser rangefinder for faster, more accurate focusing.

A 200 MP periscope camera feels almost guaranteed at this point, especially since rivals like OPPO and HONOR are already playing in that space. What remains unclear is whether Xiaomi will stick with a dual-telephoto setup or follow Samsung’s rumored move toward simplifying the zoom hardware. Either way, if these renders are even remotely close to reality, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra won’t be a phone that blends into the background—and it clearly has no intention of trying.
