Loading ... Loading ... Designers must have been so disappointed with Sony’s PSP Go!, that they decided not to create any more PSP Phone or PSP 2 concepts… Esato board user pavlov’s dog breaks the ice and shows us a very neat concept, a PSP Phone, judging by the presence of the Sony Ericsson branding.

Without the side controls (d pad, analog and action buttons) this concept looks just like the PSP Go!, but the additions are welcome, specially if we consider the mess Sony made with their new console. Am I the only one who doesn’t like the PSP Go!?

PSP Go Leaked! Real PSP 2 Versus the Best Concepts and Designs

Loading ... Loading ... What some may call “PSP 2″, or better said PSP Go! will probably be announced today or tomorrow officially at E3, but the shots portraying the new portable console have leaked days ago. Is the new PSP what we’ve been waiting for? Does it match the hundreds of concepts we’ve seen? Find out below!

PSP Go Leaked! Real PSP 2 Versus the Best Concepts and Designs

First we have to say that PSP Go! is a disappointment, as far as design is concerned, because I’m sure that Sony could  have pulled out something much nicer from the hat. Where are the two analog controllers that all the gamers requested? Where is the touchscreen? And the camera?

At least they got rid of the UMD drive and implemented 16GB of Flash memory on this sliding device that will hit the market this Fall. We found out that the PSP Go! will allow its user to download games and video content via the PS Network and it’ll also be faster than PSP3000 and support Bluetooth.

PSP Go Leaked! Real PSP 2 Versus the Best Concepts and Designs

Now, if we compare the PSP Go! with the two concepts you can check out at the end of the article, you’ll understand why we’re so disappointed. How can a new PSP with a 90s-style design compare to a flexible device of the future or that red hot Sidekick-style PSP? All those concepts and designs… and still Sony went with a different approach.

The reason? Probably a financial one… Recession and all. PSP 3 will be the bomb!

PlayStation Portable 2, Sketch Version of the PSP Go!?

Loading ... Loading ... You might be aware by now that Sony has goodies for us in 2009 and among those there’s a new PSP console, known as PSP Go! We have no pics or specs for this brand new device, but Breccia, a designer from the Esato board envisioned the future of the PSP series and created his own version of the Go! or PSP 2.

PlayStation Portable 2, Sketch Version of the PSP Go!?

As you can see in the sketch, the device resembles quite a lot a Cyber-shot camera and speaking of which, this PSP 2 concept packs a 5 megapixel camera sensor. On its specs list you’ll also find stereo speakers, Bluetooth 2.1 (3.0 even?), WiFi support, 8GB of internal memory, an accelerometer and a 4.3 inch touchscreen display with a 640 x 360 pixel resolution (16:9)

Breccia also imagined that this new PSP will use OLED technology (screen) and that it’ll incorporate a microphone, a microUSB port, a 3.5mm audio jack and a battery slot. What do you say? Is this design plausible? The features sound about right, but I’m not so sure as far as the design is concerned…

PSP 2 Will Not Feature an UMD Disc Drive, Probably Ready for an E3 Launch

Wednesday, February 25th, 2009

Loading ... Loading ... Word’s out that Sony will be releasing a PSP 2 (no kidding?), but you probably guessed that much by now. What’s special about this new theory is that the info comes from David Perry, a developer at Acclaim, who said that “Sony finally has the PSP 2″ and that it doesn’t pack an UMD disk drive.

PSP 2 Will Not Feature an UMD Disc Drive, Probably Ready for an E3 Launch

The developer posted the news on his Twitter and Facebook accounts, getting much hype from the blogosphere, as we’re all anxious to see what Sony has in stall for us. E3 will probably bring the new console to the public’s eyes and we can say that moving on to Flash memory storage instead of the battery-draining optical drive is a logical choice.

Sony Ericsson PSP 2 Concept

Loading ... Loading ... Here’s another PSP concept, a so-called “PSP 2″, without having the “Phone” attached to its name, this time… Notice the pretty decent camera at the back and an interesting layout of the keys. This is en ergonomic gadget, although I have the feeling that some of the user’s fingers will be touching the camera’s lens.

Also, I hope that the action buttons and D-pad keys are not too embedded in the console and I would that they would stick out more, while being rigid, but still ease to use.  Hmm… interesting… Only now I noticed that the device is branded Sony Ericsson… Could this be a PSP Phone, after all?

PSP 2 is All About Flexible OLED and Tech Beauty

Loading ... Loading ... We’ve shown you all of the PSP 2 and PSP Phone concepts we could come up with, but still there are more to droll upon. The latest concept PSP 2 was designed by Tai Chiem and it’s a flexible OLED-based device that can be rolled. In case this flexibility bothers you, keep in mind that the display will become more rigid under the influence of an electric charge.

This device also features stereo speakers (on either side), also used as a jog wheel and camera control. Gaming will be done via two joysticks, a feature we’ve been looking forward for years. Is this a Sony-branded dream or just a device hidden in the company’s vaults, that will hit the market in 2013?

Sony PSP 2 Concept Designs, as Seen by Gamers

Loading ... Loading ... The gaming folks of Kotaku have come up with a neat PSP 2 design contest, which showed us what people think of the next generation of Sony’s portable consoles. A couple of them are interesting to say the least, but my favourite is the very first one you can admire below. It’s got a touchscreen, a 16GB flash drive, a webcam, a PS2 emulator and tons of other features, but still… it’s no .

Another concept I digged was this “bogus design” below, created by Torokun. This PSP 2 features a touchscreen with a multi touch sensor, an 852 x 480 and 16:9 display to be more precise and a pretty neat sliding mechanism. It may remind some of you of what Nokia was trying to do back in the days with some of its handsets, but this concept goes far beyond and still manages to include that UMD drive we don’t need, plus the useful memory slot.

PSP Goes iPhone in a Neat Concept Design

1 Star2 Stars3 Stars4 Stars5 Stars (21 votes, average: 4.10 out of 5)

Loading ... Loading ... Since Sony have already started posting job ads for some mysterious console to come, we might as well speculate, that the console above is a PSP 2. I’ve spotted this conceptual beauty and realized that it resembles a tad the good old iPhone, but I’m still wondering if that’s a touchscreen sliding in there. The classic button layout is here, with an extra analog pad and the L an R buttons probably on the side of the device. Notice how slim and wide the console is? Inspired by Nintendo DS, are we?
