Even though the Vivo Apex 2019 is coming tomorrow, we have a pretty much official looking render popping up online today. Ben Geskin gives us his official first look at the device that’s supposed to change the current design paradigm.
Last year the Vivo Apex was turned into the Vivo NEX and inaugurated the pop up camera concept, with a sort of periscope mechanism for the selfie cam. It wasn’t much to look at, but at least it wasn’t as fragile as the devices with camera sliders. The Vivo Apex 2019 has discrete back cameras and no front camera I can see.
It cuts down the bezels further and has a certain fluidity of the corners and edges, in the way they curve. It feels like it’s all Liquidmetal or stainless steel, or simply a new type of glass. People are describing it as a “soap bar made of metal”. Leaksters have mentioned that the device will have no buttons, holes, basically nothing to spoil the entirety of the design.
It could also have no ports, no audio jack, no grille, focusing on wireless connectivity. In lieu of the earpiece we’d have surface vibration or a piezoelectric mechanism. This could end up as the most beautiful phone of 2019. Oh by the way, Meizu also did something similar.
