We haven’t seen a Huawei concept phone in quite a while now, but luckily designer Mladen Milic is here to fill that gap with the Huawei Mate X 2030 phone. It’s a foldable/flexible device that expands on the idea of the Mate X.

The device brings forth curvier edges for the screen and glass protection, that will probably be perfected 10 years from now. This serves as a redesign for the original Mate X, except for the fact that this one has a flexible pull up screen and flexible pull up frames. The sides edges are curved and the bottom and top frames are larger for the foldable screen to be more easily integrated. The “core” of the phone is now wider than the first Mate X, which may increase the bulk of the machine.

There’s still Leica optics here and a few cameras, although we can’t exactly tell how many. I feel that a stylus would also work here, plus an extra degree of flexibility, like playing around with the screen as if it were rollable like a scroll. Maybe that’s what the designer actually means with the “pull up screen”, a rollable piece of display, that can be wrapped around a cylinder and rolled out when need be. Honestly, seeing how phone designs have evolved over the past 2 years, I can’t predict what will happen in 2025, let alone 2030…
Still a pretty nifty attempt.
