We’re merely two weeks away from the big unveiling of the Samsung Galaxy S9 at MWC 2018 and renders are pouring in. OK, maybe not as hard as last month or in December 2017, but they’re coming. Some of the latest ones are pretty legit, like the Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus ones done by Curved/Labs. Let’s check them out.
The German outfit took all the info and leaks they could find and turned them into very legit-looking phones. The Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus now have narrower bottom bezels and a wealth of sensors at the top front side. I see they also got dual speakers at the bottom and got rid of the audio jack. That’s not very likely, since the recent DeX Pad leak showed an audio jack on the S9.
Small changes are the key here, compared tot he S8. The Galaxy S9 Plus brings a dual camera at the back, while the Galaxy S9 opts for a single one, as rumored and as expected. What’s really interesting to me is that even though both phones most likely have glass backs, these are matte glass panels, made to look like metal. And that’s happening while other companies are going ultra glossy with their case designs, not matte at all.
The fingerprint scanner is placed right below the camera, which should make it easier to reach than on the Galaxy S8. I think that these concepts look great, but I also find that the bottom “lip” could have been even slimmer. My main problem with the S9 is that nobody will feel the need to buy the regular S9 when the S9 Plus has the extra camera as a selling point.
