After the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 leak, here comes another one, this time for the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3. The clamshell foldable may actually excite more people, since it was the sleeper hit of 2020, registering quite a few price cuts and millions of units sold. Let’s see what the new model brings.
Galaxy Z Flip 3 keeps the clamshell format and gets Gorilla Glass Victus on all sides. We’ll also get a larger external screen, showing more notification info and also a larger viewfinder for the camera. This device is marketed as a fashion accessory and it should come in 4 colors, with a dual tone approach. We also see that the external screen is seamless and flush with the exterior of the phone, seemingly blending into the dual camera. There’s still a bit of a gap between the two folded sides, it appears.
I’m highlighting that because the Galaxy Z Fold 3 doesn’t have any gap and that was inspired by the Huawei Mate X2 lack of a gap. The hinge cap is very discrete and the hinge mechanism is now better hidden and smaller, I’d say. I’m expecting a Snapdragon 888 CPU and not having seen the inner screen, I’d like to see smaller bezels, maybe also an under display selfie camera, like the Galaxy Z Fold 3 has. Color choices seem to include white, gray, brown and violet.
A surprise is the fact that the camera doesn’t borrow the design from the S21 series. One upgrade that must happen on the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 is a new and improved 10 MP selfie camera, since the Z Flip one was rather modest.
