Xiaomi Mi 11 Flip is a Clamshell Foldable Phone That’s Very Sharp

We’ve just found a brand new Xiaomi concept phone, a foldable phone even, but different from the recently unveiled Mi Mix Fold. First of all, it was made before the Mi Mix Fold unveiling and second it adopts a totally different format, a clamshell one. Let’s check it out.

Techconfigurations is the author of the concept, that in spite of the format is quite different from the Galaxy Z Flip and MOTO RAZR 5G. It’s very, very glossy, adopts a camera design akin to the Xiaomi Mi 11 and has very sharp angles. The external screen is bigger than the one of the two clamshell foldable phones named before. The device looks seamless and doesn’t seem to show a crease in the screen panel. There’s a hinge here, with lids on the sides, and a slightly rudimentary way of combining surfaces.

There’s a 3.5 inch OLED external screen and a 7 inch innter OLED 120 Hz panel. This is a powerful handset, a Snapdragon 888 beast with 12 or 16 GB LPDDR5 RAM, a 4700 mAh batery and 5G. It even has 120W fast charging. There’s a huge “chin”/”forehead” at the top, that lets you properly arrange the bottom part of the screen flush with the whole machine. This is actually a single display with a wraparound approach, so the “external” screen is actually part of the main one. There is some potential here, but the hinge doesn’t convince me.
