If you want futuristic and foldable concepts, leave it to Techconfigurations. The YouTube channel has been proposing some of the most outrageous designs we’ve seen lately, focused on flexible screen panels. They’ve made multiple Xiaomi ones and now they even came up with a foldable Sony Xperia phone. Let’s check it out.
The device is known as the Sony Xperia XZ5 Fold and comes with an 8 inch OLED display. Inspiration is drawn from the PS4 apparently, plus a variety of other Sony products, Bravia TVs and even Vaios included. To be honest, Sony is still trying to find its footing with regular phones, let alone foldables, so I think we’ll have to wait a bit till this gets done. When opened in smartphone mode, there’s a 6.6 inch OLED display revealed, while the main screen is an 8 incher (OLED).
I see no crease here in the middle of the screen and I also see that the back camera is a triple or quad setup, that resembles the one from the Xperia 5. We get a gigantic 7000 mAh battery, good enough for tablets, plus 5G support and 65W charging. Then there’s 8 or 12 GB of RAM and the futuristic Qualcomm Snapdragon 875 processor, accompanied by up to 512 GB of storage. The Xperia XZ5 Fold even has a stylus, an angular one, which has the exact same degree of sloping like the sides of the phone.
By the way, the sides are clearly inspired by the slopes of the PS$4. We also get dual stereo speakers and a side display which shows notifications and useful info. We also get to see a laptop mode for the device and I’ll be the first to admit that this thing is rather beefy, but it has its own style and it’s doing its own thing. Not sure how angularity plays with your palms though.
